Unknown Command Problem(s)

Anonymous
Not applicable

I recently purchased a trial version of AutoCAD Architecture 2018. After opening one of my drawings to work on I noticed that some commands were "unknown"?!

Typed MTEXT, MATCHPROPERTIES, IMAGEATTACH, DRAWORDER

I get the error message of "unknown command"?!

What's up with that?

I let an Autodesk rep walk me through the installation, so as not to do something required.

What can I do? They won't help me until I purchase the license.

Broken trial. Bring your money??!!

Do any of these command work if you use the tools on the ribbon?

If not, it sounds like you have a faulty installation.

At least one of these commands (IMAGEATTACH) requires an additional component of AutoCAD to be loaded, which is dependent on a setting in Options.  After OPTIONS, pick the "Open and Save" tab, then verify that the setting (in the lower right portion) for "Demand load ObjectARX apps" is "Object detect and command invoke".  If not, that could be responsible for this problem you're seeing.

If that setting is correct, I agree with leothebuilder that your installation may be faulty.  To correct this, use the Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features.  Pick your version of AutoCAD from the list of installed programs, then click "Uninstall/Change" at the top.  From the dialog that appears, pick "Repair or Reinstall" and first try "Repair".  If that does not fix the problem, pick "Reinstall".

Hope this helps.
