Trying to create a Tag that extracts attribute data

Trying to create a Tag that extracts attribute data from individual blocks with a selection feature. I have header steel blocks with attribute data attached to them. When I create a layout I xref the area of header steel which can involve up to 200 header steel blocks. I'm trying to find a faster way of tagging them without manually filling out attributes in the tag. Is there a Lisp command or a VBA script where in paper space I enter the command, select an individual header from the xref and extract the desire attribute data into a block (tag)?

I need some clarification on this question.  It sounds to me like you are trying to use a block that already has attributes, and link another block to it that would show the data of the attributes in the first block.  Is that correct?  It sounds as though you are trying to do what the smart objects such as doors and walls have and what a multi-view block reference does to show what is in the object.  However, you do not want to use smart objects or multi-view block references.  Is that your question?

You would need to customize ACA.  See one of the customization newsgroups.  It's not difficult to determine that ACA itself doesn't support this.  Try adding a property set and switch to the "applies to" tab.  Check block references. Note that there are no checkboxes for attributes, just for attribute definitions.  In the definitions tab, add an automatic property.  Note that block attributes aren't available.

If you need to schedule rather than to tag, try dataextraction, which works very well.
