trying to create a custom linetype

Hello everyone,

I seem to need some help again.  I am trying to make a custom linetype but I can't find where to do it.  I was informed that there is two ways to do it.  One way is to have express tools which I don't have because I use the student version.  And the other is by typing a command and:  Create a own line type .lin file manually, then load it into AutoCAD in the Linetype Manager.  I really don't understand this.  I have typed in several different variations of this with no luck.  Thanks for your help.

Care to share what you have so far?  Or, at the least, provide a sketch or description of how you want the linetype to appear?

Instructions for creating a custom linetype can be found in the AutoCAD Architecture help, starting with this article:

http://help.autodesk.com/view/ARCHDESK/2020/ENU/?guid=GUID-5A6E6759-8A9A-4A8A-9AEE-EE9DB72F792D

The links in the Related Concepts area at the end of the article lead to specific instructions, based on the type of linetype you are creating.  Instructions for a simple linetype, with just dashes, spaces and/or dots, can be found here:

http://help.autodesk.com/view/ARCHDESK/2020/ENU/?guid=GUID-EF1DF0A9-2088-487C-8085-16FEE6425405

Mr. Koch,

I want to thank you for sending me these links.  I will be looking at them soon.  I think I have a solution.  "MKLTYPE" lets me create a line with segments, symbols, and text (single line only).  I have been having a bit of success with that however I run into difficulties getting an end point.  I will experiment more.  And to create a line with more complex shapes I found "MKSHAPE" to make and save the shape and that experiment also worked.  I think I am on the right track and will look at these links when I get to work later.  Thank you for your help.
