Tool palettes are not displayed

I am using ACA 2018.

I copied my old tool palettes between my laptops and from a certain reason the palettes are not displayed on the CUSTOMIZE popup window in the new PC.

Using the Files tab in the Options window, I made sure that I was using the right folder path to locate the tool palettes.

Thanks for your help.

Find the root directory the tool palette files are in on your original PC, copy the files, and paste them into the same directory on the laptop. Also, go into options and make your your tool palette directory is pointed to that exact folder. You may have to move the directory up to the FIRST position in order to get it to read there. Then, apply, OK, restart.

Thanks npsconsultingllc for your reply,

I did exactly what that you suggested, however, it works once but now (after downgrading to windows 10 and reinstalling ACA 2018), it is not working anymore. Looks like the new PC does not recognize the old files.

In the new PC, using ACA 2018, I even created a new palette. Suprisingly, in the directory which I just copied from old PC, I can see the new palette among my old palettes. YET the CUSTOMIZE shows the new palette but ignores the old palette.

Appreciate your help.

Did you only copy over files in the Palettes folder?

The out-of-the-box tool palettes for US Imperial content for the 2023 release are installed here (if you do not redirect them elsewhere):

C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ACA 2023\enu\Support\WorkspaceCatalog (Imperial)\Palettes

(The name of the WorkspaceCatalog (Imperial) will be different for other content.  The numeric portion of the ACA 2023 folder will vary for other releases.)

But the Palettes folder files are not all you need.  The WorkspaceCatalog (Imperial) contains a file called ADTSamplePalettes (Imperial).atc.  Did you copy the equivalent of that file from the old machine to the new machine?  ACA looks to that ATC file (AutoCAD Tool Catalog file) to determine what palettes to include.  If you just copied files into the Palettes folder that do not have a GUID that matches one in the ATC file, then those Palette files will not be seen.

The image below shows the contents of the ADTSamplePalettes (Imperial).atc file on my computer, with the first Palette expanded to show its contents.  The URL property points to the ATC file that defines the Design palette referenced.

Do not mess with the Ribbon Tools.atc file that may also be in the WorkSpace Catalog folder.  That defines tools that the Ribbon uses for AEC content tools.
