Is there a good reason to avoid having spaces when we name folders, files, etc. in ACAD?

For instance: Floorplan or Floor_plan instead of Floor plan.

Thank you.

Is this OK even if you have previous versions of ACAD?

Has worked fine for many years/decades now since Win3.1: why, are you facing a particular challenge?

Yup, this is 2017 and unless you are running a DOS version of Autocad you should be fine.

I never had any problem by having a space between words when naming a folder or file but a few days ago a friend who knows ACAD well told me to never leave spaces in folders or files because it causes problems so I decided to ask you guys for your opinion.

I got the right answer which confirm that I was doing fine. Thank you guys!!!!

One tip regarding "spaceholders". If you are creating property names in AutoCAD Architecture  (ACA) and ever intend to use the same names for Revit Parameters do not use "-" as a replacement for spaces. Use CamelCase or undersore "_" instead.

"Room-Area" will be fine in ACA

"Room-Height" will be fine in ACA

Room-Area x Room-Height = Room-Volume will work fine in ACA too   ie 10x5=50

In Revit "Room-Area" will read as "Room minus Area" and the "formula" will error as there is no Room or Area parameter (unless by chance there is for some other reason. Revit is a bit thick at interpreting parameter names

Room_Area or RoomArea will work in both
