SPACE - area tag - how to include door/window niches

I have floor-to-ceiling window. Is there a way to get the SPACE object to include floor area of the opening in the wall (door/windowsill "floor area")? SPACE, by default, ignores the floor area under the walls completely.

Blue - what I get in default

Red - what I would like to achieve with the SPACE object

Thanks, any help much appreciated.

Hi @ixikEEA68 ,

Thank you for your query on the ACA Community Forum.

There are ways to manually create a Space object to include the recessed floor area around the door/windowsill, but there is no settings/option to enable associative spaces to include the recessed area.

I will proceed to log a wish list item on the creation of associative spaces that includes recessed areas. In the meanwhile I have provided two workarounds that may help you.

How to manually create a space object including recessed area:

Option 1  - Tool palette linework option

  1. Draw the desired space outline using a polyline
  2. Convert the polyline into space:
    1. Tool palette > Design > Space
    2. Right click menu > Apply Tool Properties to > Linework and AEC Objects
    3. Follow through the dialog

Option 2 - Edit Vertices

  1. With your existing space selected
  2. In the contextual ribbon, select edit vertices
  3. Follow through the edit vertices command prompt and add new vertices around your recessed areas (this may take some trial and error for you to understand how this works)

I was afraid the only way was to do it manually. Thank you for your thorough explanation; it is much appreciated.
