Site Plans

I work for a small firm; and use the student version of ACA 2014 on my laptop. I am very new to the program. We do lots of additions and renovations so I often receive LLC DWGs from engineers and have to add to them. I have just been plotting my views because when I drag the view to a sheet there is a huge blank viewport. When I click inside it and click zoom extents to find the site plan I lose my paper space.

The site plan has tons of layers  (when I initially click the layer properties manager it says there are more layer filters than layers, whatever that means?) and each one is linked to a greyed out (unclickable) plot style like Color 6 or Color 283.

I created a layout within my view thinking that my sheet would automatically adopt that as its viewport when I dragged it over but no luck.

Also, I can't get it to plot in black and white.

I scaled the site plan so that it is 1:1 (real life) and when I drag it to a sheet it is at 1/8"=1' which is what I want it at.

So you just told everyone at Autodesk that you illegally use the Educational version of ACA2014 for production work at an office. You just set up your company for a huge lawsuit. Way to go. You all need to fix the problem, you are violating your student license and you all are going to hate the fines.

To fix your problem find a known dimension on the site plan then use ALIGN command's scale suboption to fix the site plan http://cadtips.cadalyst.com/2d-operations/rescale-and-rotate-one-command
