A new wall and demo wall occupy part of the same space. The part of the new wall that overlaps the demo wall doesnt show up even when the demo wall is frozen. Any suggestions?

"doesn't show up" can mean a few things: can you show us with screenshots or a DWG sample file?

@mgoode3XCPP

Welcome to the community!

Create two Wall Cleanup Group Definitions.  Assign your new work Walls to one and your existing-to-be-removed (demolition) Walls to the other.  Walls will not clean up with Walls in a different Wall Cleanup Group.

If you have existing-to-remain Walls, you may want to have a third Wall Cleanup Group Definition for those, as well.

Are you using the renovation mode?  Are you using the ribbon controls, choosing override options, and differentiating layer properties? (A-Wall, A-Wall (Existing), A-Wall (Demolished).  There's no need to freeeze or thaw layers when using renovation mode.

Thanks you for the advice, will this solution work in an x-ref file?

It's built into ACA so I assume it works with the construct/view/sheet model integrated into the project navigator.
