What specifically is the problem?  That template includes an ARCH D (36x24) sized title block on the layout.

Typical (best) practice is to draw your floor plan on the Model tab, at full, real-world size.  The Layout gets plotted at full size, and you would create one or more floating viewports (MVIEW command) and set the desired drawing scale in each viewport, to see the Model tab contents at the desired scale.

Are you using AutoCAD Architecture or just plain AutoCAD?

Autocad architecture. I have been using an archaic version of floor plans
called punch pro platinum and cad is brand new to me.

For AutoCAD Architecture, I would suggest starting with a different template.  The one you mentioned is a template associated with the sheet sets that come with vanilla AutoCAD.

For model files use one of the Aec Model template files, such as Aec Model (Imperial Stb).dwt, for imperial units and named plot styles.  For sheets, you could use that same template and add your own title block to a layout, or you could start with one of the Aec Sheet temi;ate files, such as Aec Sheet (Imperial Stb).dwt.  If you work in different units, or use a color-dependent plot style, there are AutoCAD Architecture templates that work with those settings, too.  The reason for that is that the out-of-the-box AutoCAD Architecture display system is built into those templates; it is not part of the Architectural Imperial.dwt template file.

It is possible to copy the display settings into a drawing after the fact, but it is rather tedious at best.  It is much easier to start with a template that has them.  And, as a bonus for the sheet template, the AEC version has several layout tabs, each with a different title block size, should 36x24 not be your preferred size.

I understand the template concept.

I am older former cad user not used to autocad architecture2018.

When we save a dwg all setting came with them.

Starting for first time here.

The template  where can you view the settings of template defaults.

1. I started using this product for these standards incorporated  in program.

2. It was noted that it time consuming to change these setting in the future after the fact.

sincerely Ksenia stumpf back to basics again.

@Anonymous:

At the time that AutoCAD Architecture was installed, was the content set to be installed to the default locations, or was some or all of it redirected elsewhere?

If it was installed to the default location, then you should find the AutoCAD Architecture template files here:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ACA 2018\enu\Template.

What template files you will find there will depend upon what content was installed.  I am located in the United States, and chose to install the following Content Packs:  Global, US Imperial, US Metric and UK.  I did not install the Danish, Finnish Norwegian or Swedish content.  Depending upon where you are located, you may have different options.  That gave me the following AutoCAD Architecture template files:

  • Aec Model (Global Ctb).dwt
  • Aec Model (Global Stb).dwt
  • Aec Model (Imperial Ctb).dwt
  • Aec Model (Imperial Stb).dwt
  • Aec Model (Metric - UK Ctb).dwt
  • Aec Model (Metric - UK Stb).dwt
  • Aec Model (Metric Ctb).dwt
  • Aec Model (Metric Stb).dwt
  • Aec Sheet (Global Ctb).dwt
  • Aec Sheet (Global Stb).dwt
  • Aec Sheet (Imperial Ctb).dwt
  • Aec Sheet (Imperial Stb).dwt
  • Aec Sheet (Metric - UK Ctb).dwt
  • Aec Sheet (Metric - UK Stb).dwt
  • Aec Sheet (Metric Ctb).dwt
  • Aec Sheet (Metric Stb).dwt
  • GSA Model (Imperial Stb).dwt
  • GSA Model (Metric Stb).dwt
  • Structural Model (Imperial Ctb).dwt
  • Structural Model (Imperial Stb).dwt
  • Structural Model (Metric Ctb).dwt
  • Structural Model (Metric Stb).dwt

At the office, we have custom templates for each discipline, based on the Aec Model (Imperial Stb).dwt, as we use named plot styles (STB) and almost all of our projects are done in imperial (feet and inches) units.

You will not want to start a drawing file from a "plain" AutoCAD template file, because that will not have any of the out-of-the-box display settings that the AutoCAD Architecture template files have.  The program will add a default Display Configuration, Display Representation Set(s) and Display Representations, but you are not likely to be happy with them.
