So I am creating a very simple gable roof with another gable roof coming off of the ridge on one side. I have attached a screenshot of the roof outline that I am trying to acheive (these are just lines)
The next one picture is the outline of my actual roof slab objects. To achieve this, I created the two main gable slabs by converting a polyline to a slab, turning the overhang edges to a square cut, the ridge edge a plumb cut and mirroring it onto the other side. Then I created a square polyline to achieve the other gable roof slab, altered the pitch and trimmed the part of it that was underneath the main gable. After, I mirrored the roof slab. To trim the main gable, I put the view to plan view and added a midpoint vertex to the main gable roof and pulled the vertex back, but as you can see I could not pull it all the way back to the ridge.
When I orbited around my roof. This is what I saw:
The edges do not connect how I would like them to and you can see the main gable roof underneath. I tried various methods; creating a roof object then transforming to slabs, then trimming the gable. This is a very simple roof and I feel as if there should an easier way to achieve this that I am missing.
I use the roof tool over slabs and there is a little trick required to get that to work.
Zooming in to the join there would be a tiny jog in the perimeter line.
It's mentioned in my online youtube videos in several places.
