Problem with Shortcut / Missing Acad.exe

For the second time in 2 weeks, my ACA 2015 session has shut down in the middle of work.  When I go to re-open the program, I get a message about a missing Acad.exe file.  Seems it had disappeared.  I can successfully repair the installation, but this is getting a little unnerving.  Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jim

Let me guess, this problem only showed up about the time you moved to Win10 (or since Win10 installed an update): correct?

FWIW 2 crashes in 2 weeks is not considered a major disaster for those of us tat have used AutoCAD for 20+ years sadly.

Yes, that's correct.  I recently installed the Windows 10 Creators Update.

I've been using Acad since version 14, but I've never experienced a crash that deletes the Acad.exe file.  This "self-destruction" is bizarre.

This is what Autodesk says about 2015 and Win10 (before your update) http://autode.sk/1IY4C2X

AFAIK the WIn10 Creators Update will only be supported in ACA2018 in the near future, if they go back it will likely only be for ACA2017. But who knows, they might feel benevolent and go further but I suspect not with their new push for yearly subscriptions.

I have tons of issues with windows 10. At least I believe that to be the issue. Just today I crashed 6 times at least. Every time windows 10 does an update there's an issue. I'm pretty sure that's what broke me being able to plot correctly months ago that took me 2 weeks to fix. If I start crashing my first thing to check now is if windows 10 did some update. I was ready to throw my computer out the window today. Open file, scroll around to what I need, turn my head to look at some plans, look back, crashed without even doing anything or having my hand on the keyboard or mouse.

Sorry to hear that.  Windows 10 up until now has been very stable for me.

Do you know if it is recommended to set the programs (in my case ACA 2015) so that they run in compatibility mode, such as Windows 7?
