PDF (batch plot, single plot, etc.) Software?

Greetings-

I've been on this forum for a lot of years and am in awe of the many brilliant minds here so I want to toss out a question and see what I get...

We're now on ACA 2016.

We've been using AcroPlot Pro for years to batch plot from Autocad. It's a wonderful program and I've been very happy with it. It also creates a PDF engin in windows that allows you to use its driver to print from any windows program. Its reader (Acroplot Matrix) works pretty well also. In fact using Matrix it's very easy to open a PDF of a drawing and print it at 50% scale which is great to send 1/2 sized prints to our copier, not our plotter. I have no idea how to print a PDF at 50% size in Adobe Acrobat...I'm not certain it's possible. (We've got Acrobat X Pro). Incidentally, the only thing I don't like about Acroplot (which might be true for all batch plotting software) is that I wish it plotted in the background so I could work on other things (email, writing, etc) while it's generating the PDF's, but it's active windows opening and closing while it's operating so you have to be careful not to get in its way or you'll mess up the process.

My partner recently downloaded Foxit to try...not for ACAD, but for just PDF editing (red-lining, mark-up, etc). He says it's pretty great. I've not researched whether Foxit can batch plot like Acroplot.

So, my question is:

What other software is out there to create PDF's in ACAD? I've heard of Bluebeam, but know nothing about it. If anyone will have an opinion that I respect, it's this room full of chuckleheads.

Thanks!

Scott

Have you tried to Plot or Publish (batch plot) to any of the out-of-the-box PDF drivers for AutoCAD since you're trying to plot to PDF files from within AutoCAD? You can see a list of the default plotter configuration files using the PlotterManager command. By setting the system variable BackGroundPlot to 1, you can continue to work while the printing happens in the background.

There is really no need for additional software to batch to PDF (or any other printers) as this is all built-in to ACA and autocad.

For redlining you should look into Autodesk Design Review or Autodesk A360 (these are free)
