OSNAP and tracking ignore column grid lines

There are settings in options under drafting, Object Snap Options, for ignore hatch objects, and ignore dimension extension lines, but i dont see anything for ignoring column grid lines.  Once a line is drawn over a grid line it will recognize it and snap to it.  But when im trying to draw a new line extending to a grid line using polar and OS extension, it does not see the CAD generated column grid line.  This is all 2D linework, and Ive checked the properties of the column grid lines and they are zero elevation, ive even set it to 1" and then back to zero to reset it, and does not fix it.  If i explode the column grid it will snap to it.

Your post is unclear if you are using the ACA column grid or 2d linework.

I have no problem using osnaps when using the ACA column grid. (ACA2018)

Can you post a sample dwg file

I thought it was called an AEC Grid, but either way its a CAD generated column grid.  The line work in the drawing is 2D, but the grid is CAD generated.

With ACA I meant Autocad Architecture..........yes an AEC grid object.

Again, I have no problem using osnaps on the grid object.

Here is the file, and some screen shots.  I checked on a colleagues PC and the issue occurs on his PC too.  Might be something with install settings?  To be specific, the issue is only with OSNAP 'extension & tracking'.  All other OSNAP settings work.  After I draw a line over the GRID, OSNAP will snap to that line intersecting the GRID, but will not 'track and extend' to the GRID line itself.

Running ACA 2018 here and I opened your file and had no problem at all snapping to the grid object.

Forgive me, I'm not sure what you mean by "with OSNAP 'extension & tracking'" so what I post below may be something else

Looks like you may be extending from the grid line, which works fine, or you're at a known intersection or node.  Im trying to extend a new random location line to the grid line, and the 'extension' & 'Object Snap Tracking' check box in OSNAP settings does not seem to recognize ACA generated column grid lines.

Nevermind, I understand what you are trying to do now, no tracking, just exnteions: and as others noted, I cannot use EXTENSION osnap with your grid either in ACA2018. Seems to be a limitation.

Further more, the trim and extend command do not recognize grid lines either.  At least now I know, thanks.

Hi @Smajon,

Thank you for reporting these issues here in the forum.

I've reproduced both problems here on my end (the Object Snap Tracking/Extensions issue and the TRIM/EXTEND issue). It happens in 2017 as well, so it may be "as designed".

However, I reported both issues to the development team this morning, and recommended that we consider addressing them in a future update.
