New Centerline and Centermark commands

In the "What's new in AutoCad 2018", there is a note about new commands for automatically drawing a dot-dash centerline from selecting two lines, or a centermark on a circle with dot-dash lines to the quadrants. These new commands are included on the AutoCad 2018 annotation ribbon, but were not included on the ACA 2018 annotation ribbon. The Centerline and Centermark commands are available in ACA, but only from the command line or loaded in a lisp file. I also learned this command was actually added to AutoCad 2017, but was unaware of the addition. On a recent project, these commands would have been extremely helpful and saved a lot of time. If you do drawings where you use centerlines, you should try it out these new commands to see how they function.

Yes...these are cool additions.

In ACA I just use the command line versions.

I was unaware of these. What are the commands? centerline and centermark?

Hi @jlg_design,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the new centerline and centermark features. I'm glad to hear they're working for you!

@gotphish001, here is some basic information about the new features to get you started with them:

Hi Victoria,

Thanks for your comments and links to info on these new commands. The issue that you did not comment on was the omission (intentional or inadvertent)  of the Centerline or Centermark commands on the AutoCad Architecture ribbon. They were added to the AuitoCad ribbon under annotations, but left off the ACA ribbon. Although these commands are available in ACA, typing out those commands on the command line is unrealistic. I have set up an alias for each command that works for me, but the ribbon omission should be corrected for all ACA users.

Hi @mikedl,

I'm sorry I missed that bit!

I'll report this to the development team to see if we can get it added to the Annotate tab by default, so that you don't have to manually add it.

In the meantime, here's a quick Screencast that illustrates how you can add the panel to your Annotate tab in AutoCAD Architecture 2018, so that you don't have to manually enter the commands:

Hi Victoria,

I appreciate your report to the development team. I tried many different paths to add the commands and panel to the CUI ribbon, but failed. I think you forgot to attach the link to the screencast.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Victoria,

After sending you my last note, the screencast came up in your last reply. So, no need to send a new link.

Thanks,

Jeff
