Move objects at all angles

I want to move objects at all / any angle (free hand).  I've tried changing the snap settings but can only get vertical and horizontal movement.

Welcome to the community!

Is ORTHOMODE set to 1?  That will restrict movement to up/down or side-to-side on the screen.

What sort of objects are you trying to move and how are you moving them?  If you are using a grip to move an object, some AEC objects have grips that have modes that will limit movement.  For instance, a Wall has a square grip at its midpoint that has two modes:

  • Stretch (offset) will only allow you to move the Wall perpendicular to its length.
  • Move will allow you to freely move the midpoint to any other point.

You can hover over the grip and then select the desired mode in the context menu that appears, or you can toggle between modes by pressing the CTRL key.

If none of the above appears to be your issue, please reply to this thread in the web interface, and attach a file that exhibits the issue you have, with specific notes on what object(s) are restricted and how you are trying to move them.

Thank You,
Rookie error - I needed to simply turn off each snap icon
