Modifying Smart Windows

Is there a way to modify the appearance of smart windows? The default smart window shows glazing and a sash relatively accurately, but the unit frame is 2" thick. I would like to modify or redraw the smart window to more accurately depict a window in reality.

HELP in ACA and online tutorials are plenty, help yourself https://www.google.com/search?&q=autocad+architecture+tip%3A+how+to+modify+window+assembly

Is there a way to make the window width reference the width between the frame (similar to a door) instead of the width of the entire window unit?

Yes,

If you are looking to adjust widths on the basic frame then you can change the dimensions of the frame by editing the style.

Another way of adding even more dimensional detail to a plan view is to follow the example of the 2d frame in plan that can be found when browsing for styles.

If you look at the display properties for plan view of the plan 2d style and select the "other " tab,. it will show that a block has been used to replace the outside frame component. If you then check the layer/color/linetype tab the name of the block that is substituting the frame component is in the list and the frame /sash components are turned off. This will allow the plan view to be very detailed.

Yes,

See properties palette when you insert the window.

This is awesome, thank you. How can I change the default "measure to" setting? For me currently when I add a new window "outside of frame" seems to be the default and I'd like it to be "inside of frame."

During window or door insert changes to settings will become the default.

Which setting is it? I add a window but none of the prompted options seems to effect the inside or outside of frame.  You'd think it would be "cycle measure to" but that changes the insertion point of the window.

@Anonymous

The place to set Measure to is on the Properties palette, on the Design tab.  See the image in this post (#5) that @R_Tweed previously posted, highlighting where that is.
