Missing DWG Launcher

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello!

I had to do some heavy cleaning of my C: drive to get our cloud based storage onto it. I must have accidentally removed my DWG launcher which is frustrating because anytime I double click a DWG file it opens a whole new instance of Autocad. Is there any download available for the DWG Launcher?

Many thanks

Next time you have autocad open, set the SDI variable to 0 (zero)

The SDI is set to 0, the DWG launcher is missing from my computer. Thanks though.

In Windows Explorer, right-click on a DWG file, select OPEN WITH then CHOOSE DEFAULT PROGRAM, then post that screenshot here: are you saying in that pop-up, AutOCAD DWG LAUNCHER is missing? If yes, you need to install an AutoCAD version that will put that back. So as not to mess up your installed software, go grab the free DWGTRUEVIEW viewer from Autodesk and install that on your PC https://www.autodesk.com/products/dwg/viewers

Hi tmurph4000,

If the DWG Launcher has been deleted, then you will need to install DWG True View as suggested or run a Repair or Reinstall of an AutoCAD product. Once you do that you should be able to right click on a dwg file and select Open With -> Choose Default Program and select AutoCAD DWG Launcher and make sure that you check the box for "Always use the selected program to ope this kind of file"

Please let me know if you need any other help with this or if this resolves your problem.

Hi tmurph4000,

I'm just checking to see if our suggestions helped you resolve this issue. If you have this working again, can you mark the solution as accepted so we know you are up and running properly?

Thanks

David
