Matching underline to text

Hi Everyone.  I am curious if there is a way to modify to properties of the automatic underline in Mtext.  

The text on top is text with a separate bold line underneath.  The bottom text has the Underline command applied to it.  Is there a way to change the underline to match the thickness of the text?

Separate objects if you want the look: nothing inside MTEXT does that unless you plot using CTB then you can fake it with the correct color assignment (TTF fonts ignore those line weight settings).
