In any autocad files I open displays lines that are not part of the design and can not be selected or erasable but can not make use of the same. How to do?

Welcome to the community!

Is hardware acceleration enabled?  If so, try turning it off and see if that gets rid of the "extra" graphics.

Please post your computer's specifications, including the graphics card and current driver.  Others here who are more knowledgeable about that may be able to offer additional advice.

It may be graphics card related.

Sometimes you have to close autocad (even windows) for tweak changes to take effects. Do them one at a time.

Also having lots of lines etc. really far from the world origin messes up too. That might be where all those lines converge.

Finally, be sure you're actually in "world plan view".
