LIGHT AND VENT(AIR) SCHEDULE

Anonymous
Not applicable

HELLO TO ALL,

I am new to autcad architecture and I've been trying to create an automated light and vent(air) schedule, while doing research, I couldn't find a solution to my problem.

Also, is it possible to assign windows to "spaces", as it will be needed to create the light and vent schedule.

Thank you

All of your issues are decidable!
That is goood news
Give more details what exactly( parametres) you want to schedule and what for you need windows assign to space?
more specific please!

Hi Brian,

So in a window schedule, other than the width, height, glazing type and frame,(which I was able to do) I need to show the glass area & vent area.

Now in the light and vent schedule, the parameters I need to show are room name, room area, Light required, Light actual, Vent required and vent actual.

The reason why i need to assign windows to a space is so it could total the amount of actual light and vent in a space based on how many windows there are in a certain space.

In addition to all of this, the required light and vent is determined by multiplying the area of a space by a certain value that changes from space use to space use.

I hope I didnt complicate the issue.

Thank You

This is will be schedule made of formulas based on parameters you talking about but it needs step by step actions.
some questions....
First of all area of glazing should be extracted only of opened part of window-sash ( for vent ) and for all the area of glazing (for lighting)? If I wrong give me you feedback

Second index of lighting and vent should be specific for group of space( living/ offise/ etc.) or more specific? How you gonna do the comparecy? what the formula is? exact critarion?

Some statments:

Take a note that glazing area WILL calculate with window hight and width parametres minus width of frame. If it be some muntins they woun't taken into account - this kind of imperfaction you have to know beforahand

Attaching of window to shedule will be deffenetly be manualy
This is anchor windows object to space via Object Anchor. You have to understand it amount of aditional work every time you want to do the schedule for new project

There is could be done some routine via lisp and VBA but I not as good to help you in this case

And one more small detail. If there is formula in schedule-the shedule shows all the date of anchored objects for calculation in schedule/ and only totals will contain required result
It means for every space( or group of space) there is will needed individual shedule.
It is not be schedule of all the spaces with demanded by you meaning
Grouping of totals of shedules automatecly imposible/ It could be made manualy only via export shedule to exel or converting to table and "copy"- "paste" routine in one single table
also via LISP and VBA ,but .....5555777.JPG

like on example. It is my "roombook" . It is for area of inner surfaces . I use ACA 2010 and there is no "roombook" yet. Schedule spelled on Russian langeuch BUT you need numbers
as you see it single schedule per one space. In left side there is a list of objects that interacte with space and their areas and quantities

in totall result /

In more recent ver. Autocad Architecture schedule containe improvment / YOU can group and do subtotal

Thus you can use single schedule for all the spaces... but date of anchored objects still be visable

Hey Brian,

The lighting and vent should be more specific per space, and there is a formula for 'required light and vent'. sqft of space times 8% for light and 4% for vent, and some spaces 0% light and 150% vent per chicago building code.

After reading feedback, I believe Revit is the better option. Our goal in the office is to try to automate as many schedules as possible, and I dont think autcad architecture is the option for that.

Do you agree?

Thank You

In this case yes..

In Revit a lot of stuff like that could be made with Dynamo
But dynamo it is also like vba and lisp...here in Autocad. Necessary knowlage to use it

But on the other hand Revit is more restricted in modeling . It can't use line and polyline like instrument of generationof space/ roof floor project line ...etc . Convertion mass to solid or solid to mass and slab only here in ACA. Space in revit it is indoor only object. In revit not existed very handy function "interference condition"
Windows or doors can't be positioned outside the wall but still anchored to the wall

WELL as for me revit is next generation of Autocad Architecture and it is becameing as futher and futher more complicated like autocad architecture....

It so pity that autocad architecture not developed any more like it was till 2012
Some options not works as it should like "space zone manager" like "material propery definition" like "manual abow and below cut plane for walls" and etc but it still very powerfull!!!! Some years ago I did qute a massive work to share with developers of ACA.By the way dynamo also was regarded for ACA in thos times
But I was told that srategy is 1 product in Autodesk for the 1 consumption group.
Autocad Arch. as for me, is abandoned now.

But if you want let  is try/ I am here to do my best to make ACA more popular

I found something to count exact area of glazing

For now, We are sticking with autocad and just linking the excel sheets to the drawing since we already have the excel sheets setup with all the formulas. Thank you again for your input.
