Improved Performance for ACA 2015

Has anyone looked into ways to improve the performance for ACA by stripping there OS of any programs that are not "required" to run AutoCAD Architecture 2015?

I had some improvement by switching all my drawing to run locally rather then from our server, but as my projects progress and especially toward the final stages it still becomes quite slow to work in. and modifying sheets for plotting becomes almost unbearable.

I use the Project Navigator for the most part, but have not fully embraced the "view" tab to place views on sheets. Instead I tend to create viewport manually on a sheet. I tag all AEC objects like doors, windows, walls, spaces, equipment, etc.. in the constructs, along with the majority of general annotation notes. I keep as little text in paper space as possible so there's less places to change during revision and sketch updates.

In general my projects consist of redeveloping old 4 to 6 story mill buildings, averaging from 100k to 300k SF, I typical break them into costructs by level then insert each floor construct into a single dwg as a "core" dwg. this seems to work good until i get past the conceptual stage and start tags and annotations at this point it begins to progressively slower.

any hints or advice on how to tune up my PC would be appreciated greatly

OS is windows 7 64 bit with what i think is a average graphics card.

Thanks

Todd.

It sounds like most of what you are doing are good practices - annotating in constructs, limiting the number of viewports, etc is all good. If you are experiencing poor performance when files are on a network drive but better on a local drive then there may be an issue with the network. There shouldn't be any great difference unless you are working remote and accessing the network through a VPN or something similar.

You can check your graphics card and see if you are using a certified card/graphics driver by going to this site:

Please go here and select Graphics Hardware, pick AutoCAD for the product and 2015 for the release, select your operating system and graphics card manufacturer, select All and select Find.

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/syscert?id=18844534&siteID=123112

Once the search is complete, look for your graphics card and select on that link to see if there is a certified driver for your card and if so, you can download the driver right from this site. If you have an older driver installed, please install the certified driver and then restart your computer and retest the software. If your card is not listed, then go to the manufacturer's website and download and install the latest driver available for your graphics card.

Another suggestion is to avoid working in shaded views. Working in conceptual or one of the other shaded styles will slow down performance.

Hope that this information helps.
