How to remove underlining of annotations in leaders?!

First off almost every time I search for a solution to my autocad problems, I click the autodesk knowledge network links thinking they would provide up to date information. Almost every time its wrong! Take for instance this problem I have with trying to remove the underlining of annotations in leaders - I click here: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2016/ENU/AutoC... - I have autocad architecture 2017 - THERE IS NO MULTI LEADER STYLE ICON IN THE ANNOTATION TAB!!! Finally after more wasted time searching I come across this: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2017/ENU/AutoC... - FINALLY A COMMAND GIVEN AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE! I try said command but again I can't figure it out since nothing in this program seems intuitive. So then I find this: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-mep-forum/multileader-underline-go-away/td-p/2541440 I do exactly what it says but when I type leader and execute the command - the goddamn annotation is still underlined. WHAT AM I MISSING? Its so frustrating to have to come here over and over again for the smallest ****! I'm venting my frustration with Autodesk and of course not the very helpful people here

Okay figured it out. I have to type MLEADER NOT LEADER! Why have 2 commands that do the same thing controlled in 2 separate places - it appears an mleader's style is controlled in mleaderstyle while a leader's style is controlled by dimstyle?... Same thing with mtext and text - why bother having the 2

I went through the exact same headache you just described. It's frustrating. And yes, I found the same thing just before I found your comment, but even changing the settings, as they say, keeps placing the underline in CAD2025 when using the leader command.

1) LEADER command is an old tool that is still around: underlining can be turned off if you edit your active DIMSTYLE setting for TEXT PLACEMENT from ABOVE to CENTER.

2) The equally old QLEADER command does not do the above underline issue, but it is still faithful to the DIMSTYLE settings.

3) MLEADER command is not as old and is very different.

The topic of this forum is the ARCHITECTURE variant of AutoCAD: if that is what you are using, AEC Dimensioning adds even more tools and variety.

Learning how the tool-of-your-trade works and it's  many commands, tools and features is worth the time and effort IMHO.

Best wishes.
