Dynamic Input not recognizing my edits in AutoCAD Architecture

Editing an object (I’ve tried walls and section lines in this case) I’ll grab the grip and drag, the dynamic input boxes show the angle I want, edit the distance box, yet the object is edited to some other coordinate.

I’ve had this problem before and I can’t recall, nor find, the solution. So I know its just a toggle or sysvariable.

Thanks.

Is the input box that is highlighted the one you want?  If not, you will need to tab until that one is active.

Distance and angle are shown. Just trying to extend a wall 12'.

This was working fine last week. I'm not sure what I could have changed.

I noticed when I start typing my input the angle box disappears and that I can put in relative coords. So typing "12',0" gets me where I want to be, but I don't normally have to do this. Usually just drag grip, get ref line and type input, done.

For Walls, use the Triangle grip (Lengthen), not the Square grip (End).  The triangle grip is constrained to move along (or extend) the justification line, whereas the rectangle grip allows you to change both the length and the angle of the Wall.2018-08-13_ACA2018_WallGrips_TriangleVsSquare.png

David, thanks for the pointer. That helps with the walls, but my section line its still stretching to a strange place when I tried to lengthen it.

It works fine, as there is no angular deviation, when using Move and Copy.

I've tried direct input on the Command Line "@12'<180" and stretches to my cursor. As well as tabbing to set both Dynamic Input boxes.

Are you editing the callout line (or symbol) or the Building Section Line object?  I did not experience any issues grip editing either.  Perhaps my Dynamic Input settings are different than yours; I typically work with them set as seen in the image below.2018-08-14_ACA2018_DraftingSettings_DynamicInput.png

Not sure what the callout line is. I am editing the Section Line Object (BLDGSECTIONLINEADD) that is the means to create a 2D section. There is a grip that appears next to the ID Marker and the cut line (lower left, highlighted below). I'm trying to stretch it to the left to include the 12' addition.

These are my normal settings with Pointer Input Settings shown:

Even with pointer input disabled I input "@-12',0" at the Command Line and it does not stretch to that input.

Also DYNAMODE is set to 3.

As shown in the brief Screencast, I am able to grip edit a Bldg Section Line by selecting a grip, moving the cursor and typing a distance.  Do you have Polar Tracking or Orthomode turned on?

I use Polar Tracking.

I mimicked your settings as shown in your screencast, with both Pointer Input on and off, both Absolute and Relative Coordinate settings in the Format section, when on.  Three different settings total. None produce the same results. My line always moves in the Y direction and does not move the correct X distance.

Odd.  I have no idea why that would be.  Do you have the latest Updates for your version of AutoCAD Architecture, on the chance that there was a fix for this in there?

Ive spent too much time on this already. I've just used a workaround. Close if you like.

May I ask what the workaround you used was? It would be helpful to have it in the thread in case others run into the same issue. Thanks!

Drawing and offsetting a perpendicular line 12', dragging grip using Perpendicular Osnap.
