DWG to IFC to RVT - Missing components

Morning all,

To set the background I work for a roofing and cladding company , we are currently looking into intorudcing revit to our design suite so that we can interface better with Architects / Steel contractors. for this to be effective we are going to need to be able to load 3D dwg files from Autocad into revit that are not just one solid mass and can be manipulated in place.

From the research I have been able to do on line so far the clossest I have been able to get to this is by converting the DWG file to an IFC file in Autocad Architecture and then opening that file in revit. when I do this it loads in and I have moveable components but for some unknown reason not all the components from the 3D DWG seem to be there.

The missing components are from a range of layers ( the same layers have converted OK in other areas ) and show the same properties as far as I can see to the ones that have succesfully converted.

Can anyone suggest where I could be going wrong and why I am loosing components in the conversion ?

I have also tried opening the IFC file in a seperate IFC viewer and Autocad and the same components are missing in each instance .

I have attatched a copy of the DWG File

Thanks in advance for any help ! Lee

Use REVIT to import the DWG file instead: anything go missing then?

Thanks Dean ,

I started by attempting to import the files but this brings them in as a solid un editable mass .

If I then attempt to explode the mass to get individual components and error pops up and the model dissapears.

Thanks ! Lee
