Double Click Setting for Line

I wrote a longer post yesterday including this question. Only one user responded to my question, so I am breaking this question out.

I used to have double click on a line set to convert the line to a polyline. After a reinstallation of CAD this setting is gone and I am not able to find via Googling or futzing around how to get it back.

have tried to get this back in the CUI and perhaps I just don't know how to use that portion of CUI. Under double click there is no entry for line. I see that I can add an entry for line but I do not see how to add anything to it. That is, I can make the folder called line under double click but I do not know how to create the item with the star symbol within it that actually does the thing.

Please, how do I get this setting back?

I saw your response and replied. Again, thank you for taking the time to respond.

I am not debating the fact that one can right click a line to change it to a polyline. I had a custom setting to double click it.

@jaime.ryznic Sadly no one over here can help you recover something you lost in an old version that does not exist as a core feature in the program. You'll have to recall how/when/where you got it and try to put it back.

Actually, David_W_Koch did help me with the line to polyliine double click.

I am not asking anyone to help me recover my old settings. I am asking for help to learn how to save/export/transfer/migrate/whatever my settings to my server so that I can prevent this problem in future. I understand that not having saved them is my problem. I am trying to rectify that for future and that is what I would like help with.

To restore the double-click action to convert a line to a polyline in AutoCAD, you can follow these steps:

1. Type CUI in the command line to open the Customize User Interface dialog box.

2. In the left pane of the CUI, expand the "Double Click Actions" section and select "Lines."

3. In the right pane, click the "New" button to create a new double-click action.

4. In the "Command String" field, type "_pedit" (without the quotes).

5. In the "Aliases" field, type "PL" (again, without the quotes).

6. Click OK to save the new double-click action and close the dialog box.

Now when you double-click on a line in your drawing, it should automatically convert to a polyline using the PEDIT command. You can also use the "PL" alias to execute the command from the command line.

I hope this helps you restore the double-click action in AutoCAD. If you have any further questions or issues, feel free to ask.

Thanks! Not only can I get my auto PE on lines back, I now know how to make a few other mods to speed up my drawing. I appreciate the input.

Thanks again, jayhar. I've just got a new workstation and though I did attempt the export/import settings not everything came over as some were from an older version of AutoCAD..

I've used this solution again and am building up to my full set of customization from a fresh install of CAD to hopefully be able to cleanly export/import moving forward.
