Dimension extension line issue

In AutoCAD Architecture 2015, using the AEC dimension command, and making the dimension associated to an object, some the extension lines randomly extend themselves ( either across the drawing, or away from the drawing ) every time the drawing is opened, even if they are corrected and immediately saved. Is there a way to prevent this?

Hi floorplanz,

Can you share an affected file with us? So we can test it in our environments for testing purposes? Cat Happy

To whom it may concern,

Attached should be a file with the problem visible. We are using AutoCad Architecture 2015.

Unfortunately, there's no attached files in your post, Bryan. Can you try it again?

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for posting your question here in the community. I've analyzed your file and it looks the issue is being cause by some file corruption.

I was able to resolve the error as follows:

  • Open the file using the RECOVER command. (This repairs errors that can't be repaired when the file is already open, which you can review in the command line history.)
  • Delete the corrupted AEC Dimension chain.
  • Purge RegApps, Purge All, Audit, and Save (steps 1-5 in the "if the file still opens" section of this article).
  • Recreate the AEC Dimension chain.

Hi @Anonymous,

I'm checking in again today to see how you're doing with this. Did my recommendation for repairing the file yesterday work for you?

Yes. So far it has solved the problem, which has not returned. That was helpful, thanks.
