Creating shortcuts/aliases for use in command line

Hi all

Lately ive been trying to create a shortcut that i can use in command line and command will take effect after i press enter.

Lets say for example i wanna type in command line "IS" and use that for ISOLATEOBJECTS command. Or "HH" for HIDEOBJECTS

Ive tryed to set up shortcut command in manage tab>edit aliases>edit aliases (a notepad opens with commands) all the way down under "User Defined Command Aliases" (see picture below) and run REINIT command after that.

Still shortcut commant isnt working.

Also nothing seems to work under CUI shortcuts

How exactly to i create this kind of shortcuts in ACAD architecture 2025?

That looks kind of different way to add newaliases.JPG command, did you use ADD as shown here?

Try this, copy and paste the line below into your autocad command line, then hit Enter

(findfile "acad.pgp")

Is it the one you were editing ?

Hi,

Make sure that you finish the whole procedure for adding a new shortcut, especially when this option is selected (see below image)

You might want to try using the CUI - create command function to create a macro that enacts the command with the schortcut text you define.

Hi @kreuzfahrer477 ,

Thanks for posting your query on the AutoCAD Architecture community forum.

From your described workflow, it seems like you have done the customization workflow correctly.

Shortcut creation help documentation for reference - https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Creating-a-keyboar...

I tried on my end to create a shortcut on my end and it does work.
Screen recording reference - https://go.screenpal.com/watch/cTf3QlnjdI3

My first suggestion:

  • Review the format of your PGP file and ensure your custom shortcut matches that of the help documentation or the rest of the default shortcuts
  • After editing and saving your PGP file, try restarting your program.

My next suggestion:

  • I have attached a zip file containing my customized PGP file (the same one shown in the screen recording). You may copy my custom shortcut over and see if that works for you

Best regards,

Yanhan
