Changing of Angle-Views for 3D-Objects

Hallo together,

can someone tell me where i can change the view of 3D objects, like doors? For example, a single-wing-door has a certain view from above (see picture). Where are these views defined, resp. changeable?

For MV-Blocks, I can assign this directly, but unfortunately I can't find anything for 3D objects.

Please help, thx.

What you see for a given view direction for AEC objects like Walls, Doors, Windows, etc. is controlled by the Display System.  You set a Display Configuration and a view direction current.

That Display Configuration will have a Display Representation Set assigned for that view direction.  That active Display Representation Set will have one or more Display Representations turned on for any given object type that is to be seen when that Display Representation Set is active.

The active Display Representation(s) for an object type will have one or more components that can be on or off; if on, the attributes of a given component are set there.

The Display Manager (Manage ribbon tab, Style & Display panel, Display Manager tool) allows you to review, edit and create at all three levels of the Display System.

Hi David,

thanks for the detailed answer.

You Wrote: "the active Display Representation(s) for an object type will have one or more components that can be on or off; if on, the attributes of a given component are set there."

My keyquestion is:
Is it possible to change the VIEW-COMPONENTS of a given Diplay Representation of a door, for example?

If yes, how can I change it?

An  example:
Original door-representation for 1-100 Model from above

Symbol ACA2.jpg

I searched in the dsiplaymanagementoptions for a solution and found that:

Symbol ACA.jpg

It is possible to ADD a user-defined Block (here: a tree-symbol), but the original door-above-symbol is retained.
I didnt find a way to REPLACE the classic-door-symbol with the tree-symbol. 😞

But thats  what i want: Define my own Views for Objects.

Do you know, if its even possible?

Thank you very much

Erik

You're original question is much too broad, hence, David's broad answer.

For Door objects, each part of a door in each display rep, can be on or off. Add a style or object override to the door.  On the Layer/Color/Linetype tab, turn off the element you don't want to see (panel, frame, stop, etc).  Then add the custom block or blocks on the other tab. Unfortunately, the plan rep blocks are only frame components so turning off the door panel is probably a bad idea.  If you want a custom shape to the panel, you would need to define a custom profile on the design rules tab of the door style dialog.  You would need to draw the profile first.

I don't know if this helps but I've attached a door that might be of help or at least work as an example. The view blocks can be found in the door style and are based on view.
