Basic help with blocks in Architecture

Hello!

I'm a design student and i began to use the software recently, so I'm still a noob Smiley Indifferent . I'm finding more useful for my purpose to use ACAD Architecture instead of Autocad.

In particular I have to create dynamic blocks of furnitures and having them both in 2D and 3D (as far as I learned till now they are multiview blocks) and giving them attributes to recall later in a excel file (in example the weight or the price of a sofa block). the problem is that I cannot find a complete tutorial or guide for this. I only find tips or descriptions of the Ribbon's buttons.

Can you suggest me where to find something or if is a silly question can you list me quickly the steps to do the things I need?

Thanks for the kindness and the patience!

Alberto

I am amazed at how hard it was to find this, but I would suggest starting with this Autodesk Knowledge Network article:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-architecture/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2...

Follow through on the links under related concepts.  Post back here with any specific questions.

One thing I will note:  Dynamic Blocks (AutoCAD) and Multi-View Blocks (AutoCAD Architecture) are two different things and will not play nicely together.

First, I'd like to agree with David that Autodesk has really dropped the ball on online help for AutoCAD Architecture. It seems like they have delegated the task to the AutoDesk Knowledge network and Forums, giving up on presenting instructional content on less used features.  I wasn't even able to find an AutoDesk help file for 2019 even from within AutoCAD MEP while the AutoCAD Architecture Imperial profile was active.

Dynamic blocks are only given 2D functionality.

Mvblocks are dynamic in the fact that they work with the display system but aren't parametric in the sense that you can change their sizes based on parameters.  A mvblock is a collection of view blocks such that they present the appropriate 2d or 3d view block that relates to the orthographic or model view that each viewblock is intended to be used for. Each viewblock needs to be carefully designed so that each viewblock has related insertion points.  If you were to separately insert all the viewblocks that relate to a single mvblock, they would look like they were drawn in  3 mutually perpendicular orthographic planes (actually 6 planes are supported) along with a model version.

Mvblocks are tricky to make and there is no automation available to ease the process.

You may find this semi-old blog article of use in understanding the basics.  Not much has changed in the creation of Multi-View Blocks in the last 12 years.

I'm just checking in to see if you need more help with this. Did the suggestions that @David_W_Koch and @dbroad provided work for you?
