AutoCAD Architecture - Terrain from coords in TXT file?

Hi all,

is there any possibility to make a surface (terrain) from coordinates stored in TXT file? I changed Archicad to Autodesk Autocad Architecture and it is impossible to make terrain from text file.

Can you be so kind and help me with this, please?

Thankx.

I don't have an answer for you sadly, but you might want to ask in the autocad architecture forums instead to get a better chance of getting a solution. Forum goers will be much more versed on what ACA is capable of over there.

On a side note I've just begun trying to learn archicad. Was what you are asking possible in archicad? Just curious. The work flow seems so much more logical in archicad. I'm quickly becoming a fan.

Thank you! My mistake. But you are right. Archicad is much more easier. But I knew AutoCAD... so I hoped that it will be the same. Nice and smooth. But it does not. Unfortunately so complicated.

Hi,

If i understand you right you may create a script file from your coordinates and run it through autocad with SCR command. >> Click <<

Hi @eee.sss,

It looks like you've posted this thread twice accidentally, so I'm posting my reply from the other thread here as well, so that you'll see it.

First, welcome to the Autodesk Community, and thanks for posting your question here in the AutoCAD Architecture forum!

While it's easier for a program like AutoCAD Civil 3D to handle coordinates from a text file, there are a couple of options in the core AutoCAD program (as well as AutoCAD Architecture). Take a look at the following resource, and let me know if it helps:

Thank you very much. I tried SCRipt. Without any success. With 3DPOLY it made something. Some multi direction line. But it is not 3D Mesh or 3D Surface. In Archicad: Two Clicks and Mesh is made. Autocad: Scripts and no Mesh 😞 Oh no. Please help.

Hi @Anonymous,

In order to get more advanced tools for importing your points and creating mesh topographies, you might need to use a different AutoCAD vertical (AutoCAD Civil 3D or AutoCAD Map 3D both have more robust features in this regard).

OK. But... Is it possible to make some mesh, or surface, where you can change elevation of the points? Some net to make a 3D model. Simple one. 30 points for example... I am trying to find some tutorials... nothing similar.... Thanx.
