AutoCAD Architecture 2023 - Detail Component Manager freezes

Hello

I have used Detail Component Manager without a problem for months, until today. If I select it from the Home ribbon, AutoCAD freezes and has to be shut down via Task Manager. There is an article on the Support and Learning page https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-architecture/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcar... that suggests 'Missing supported search path where files are saved' but I do not know which file path it is referring to. I have not made any changes to the support file locations.

Thanks

The reference is likely to the Detail Component Databases that are selected.  You can find those in Options > AEC Content tab, by selecting the Add/Remove button to the right of Detail Component Databases.  Do you have any set there?  If so, can those folders and files be reached from your computer?

The image below is from AutoCAD Architecture 2023, but except for changing the ACA 2022 folder to ACA 2023, I would imagine that 2023 would be similar, for a default United States installation.  If you are located elsewhere or have customized the databases that are to be available, then the file and folder names may vary.

I will add that I believe that the article you reference is talking about AutoCAD Architecture locking up when selecting a placed detail component in a drawing file, not when trying to open the Detail Component Manager.

We used to run into this semi-regularly some time back (ten years ago or so), and running the registry file found in the aec1.zip file attached to this old thread resolved the issue back then.  I am not certain that your issue is the same as the one back then, or that the registry file that worked back then would work now.

First thing I would try is to figure out if the Detail Component Manager window is opening up, but is off-screen.  Try to open the Detail Component Manager.  Then press ALT+SPACEBAR followed by M and finally any Arrow Key.  That should snap the current window to your cursor.  If the Detail Component Manager shows up at your cursor, position it as desired, left click to place it there, and work away.

It was off the screen, many thanks! I used a second monitor yesterday which is not my usual setup.
Thanks again
