AutoCAD 2016 and 2017 freeze at "Checking License" when opening.  This is a new problem, within the last month.  Nothing has changed on the machine in the last year.  Reboot does not correct.  Please advise.  NWebster

I deleted the specified Flexnet file and that seemed to work, however the problem recurs the next day.  Makes no sense but if I print several documents before trying to open AutoCAD it will open.

I should have said: SOMETIMES it works to delete the flexnet file.  Some days, like today, I can't get AutoCAD to load for love or money.  Reboot.  Shut down.  Delete file.  Print stuff.  Nothing works.  Then sometimes hours later I'll try again and it loads fine.

Nothing wrong with my network.  2016 and 2017 versions (paid up)  No new programs installed.  What gives???  This is not productive.

To say the least, that is totally weird.

Might be time to take the PC to a repair shop for a deeper investigation.

Sorry but it's not a PC problem.

I have this same freeze problem with BOTH 2016 and 2017. Yesterday I got
some sort of license validation notice while trying to open autocad and then
it opened. Today neither one will open - freezes on "Checking license" ---
What other fixes do you have?

It is a system problem: You need to find the reason it keeps recurring after you fix it per the link I posted earlier. Or at least that what you wrote. The link offered other things to try as well beyond the one you tested, try them all, including turning off your anti-virus software as part of the testing.

If you have an IT group to reach out to, or you feel you are up to it, log into Windows as an all new user and confirm the problem still exists. It should go away.

If it makes you feel any better, the problem happens on computers here.  We have a network license and sometimes it locks up without any report that the license can't be found.  It has even started checking licenses twice while opening.  I have found that using the task manager to end the AutoCAD process allows me to restart it without further problem.  Rebooting and messing with license files is not recommended IMO>

Thanks, nice to know I'm not alone. Our network is two people. The other
user doesn't have the issue, however they mostly use 2017 and I've been
using 2016, which just won't cooperate. Past couple days I've gotten 2017
to open ok. But not consistently. Go figure. Task manager doesn't
resolve it, still freezes when trying to open again. Agreed, deleting files
is a scary idea, but I did it in desperation one day and it worked. But
doesn't always. Sigh.
