Auto CAD configuration issue

Hello, 

Just purchased 2020 AutoCAD. Previously worked off template through work...already all setup. Attempting to setup my AutoCAD template and hit a wall. Spent five hours on the phone with specialist and its still off or ever worse. Cant even draw a rectangle because the support girl from India change a setting which I cant seem to find. Every time I try to draw a REC 48"x2" it turns out to be thousands of feet and even when specifically type the dimensions. Talked to another specialist and we adjusted "x", "y" didn't help. Called an old instructor told me I was to far into space tried zooming in nothing is working its just getting progressively worse.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to reset AutoCAD2020 like this https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to... then just starting over with a fresh copy of your "work template" whatever that is yet? Your next step, ideal for an inexprienced user who got stuck in a loop like you have.

Also you need to know ahead of time is your "work template" is set up for inches, or mm, or feet, or meters or whatever type units, simply assuming it is in inches is not going to work.
