Area tool calculator wrong

Hi, dealing with this problem. Need to calculate Area of a plan. When the room is 8m x5m the total area should be 40m2, using area tool it gives me around 65, anyone has an idea?

You are using the Area tool (MEASUREGEOM command, Area option) on the Home ribbon tab, on the Utilities panel, on the Measure flyout?

Using that tool in a millimeter based drawing here, for a 8m x 5m (8000mm x 5000mm) room, I get an area of 40000000mm2, or 40m2, as expected.  If I put a Space object in that room and select it, on the Properties palette, on the Design tab, Actual Dimensions category, the Base area property shows 40.00 m2, again, as expected.

Can you reply back and attach an example file where your 8m x 5m room is reporting a different value for the area?

Do you have the DWG file? If so post it. If not what kind of file are you quoting from?  This seems like a question for the architect rather than the software if you don't have the DWG file.

Forgive me, but what does that have to do with anything: I asked for a portion of the DWG file, but if you are contractually unable to share the file I suggest you contact the architect that sent you the file and you two discuss the problem, it might be more obvious to them what your challenge is.
