Measuring issues

Hi, when I measure something in my house drawing it shows as 1mm but when I change units the same thing measures as 1m. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

There is no rescaling involved if you simply change the units: you simply told the program you want "a unit" to now be a meter instead of mm.

Are you actually needing to scale your drawing up? that may affect others you share the file with.

Hi,
In my drawing I have a wall 100 mm thick as drawn by my engineer. When i
use mm units it measures 1 mm. When I change units to meters it then
measures 1M thick. It worked fine before and is working fine on pc but not
on the app. I presume it should hold the original units/scale as drawn. ??

Thanks Colin

Correct, it should hold the scale of the file most of the time.

I had this issue once, but it's been a while: lose out of your app, rename the file, then open it again and see if the problem goes away. It did for me, I suspect the app kept hold of the file it copied to my device instead of updating from the source folder.

Hi,

I tried changing name but no good. I have two drawings, house drawing and garage drawing. When I view the files in the folder the house has a small green arrow on it and but the garage doesn't. It's the one with the arrow that won't work correctly. Garage is working fine.

Thanks

Hi @maloney.colin,

The green arrow marks files that are downloaded locally, and can be opened while being offline.

What happens when you try to open the file?

We'd be happy to examine this issue, so please share with us the file's name and your username (You can do it directly by emailing us at feedback@autocad360.com).

Thanks,

I am having exactly the same problem.

The file comes from the architect and has some sizes but I need to know others and also certain areas.

When using the measuring tool it shows 71.71 units ( I say that because if I choose mm it says 71.71 mm, if I choose meters it says 71.71M !!).

Although it will measure an area it is not correct.

This is causing the  programme to be pretty useless - and I was considering in upgrading - not at the moment though!

This is exactly the same for both PC and phone versions.

In AutoCAD (on PC) and AutoCAD360 (everywhere), simply changing what "units" stands for does not rescale the file. All you are doing is changing the label from mm to M or mile or lightyear.

You need to actually scale the entire drawing after you change the units label to fix the problem.

And how do I scale ( rescale) the entire drawing? My understanding of dwg is that it is not scaled.

Hi, I found something that works for me. Open the settings section and click on view (it looks like an eye). Select model from drop down and return to drawing. It's working fine for me now on iPhone.
