SLOW TO OPEN AND PREVIEW AUTOCAD FILES

I am currently having issues with slow operation of Autocad. I own a Dell Precision T5500. It is a quad core Xeon , 16GB. I on a server and it's mapped. Other co workers have less powerful computers than mine and they have no issues opening.

So current issues:

-takes too long to open files

-takes too long to preview/plot  a PDF

I installed an NVIDIA quadro K420 and it is working with acceleration on.

So before I go and spend money on a new machine, perhaps it's a registry problem or a hard drive issues. Please help.

Hi @Arquitecto_2017,

Do you have these issues if all the files are stored on your machine locally instead of the network?

A new PC will do nothing if you have no issues with local files.

What AutoCAD version and variant are you talking about?
What is your Windows OS?
What other programs in the background are running?

What is the sever OS?
And what are the coworkers using in comparison?

If you log into your PC as one of your coworkers, do your problems go away? Ask your IT to help with this test if you cannot perform it, it's important to find out the answer.

-I am using autocad2017

-I have windows 7 , 64 bit

-Not running anything in the background, other than Chrome

-Co workers use Windows 8

I dont know what the server OS is.

Ask your I.T./Network specialists to help you with your problem: it has something to do with your log-in to the server or your connection to the server.

You can't fix it from inside AutoCAD if you have no problems whatsoever with files local on your PC.

I will ask my IT department. I tried locally and I didn't have the same issues.

Hi @Arquitecto_2017,

Did your IT get your account checked to correct this problem?
