I have an issue when the drawing I have 'binded' and then purged freezes in the next phase whether after being audited of saved. At times the computer also stops responding and sometimes get a black screen Can anyone assist
Do you have images attached to the drawings? I do not have experience binding xrefs as I have held to a strict standard over the years to never ever bind any xref.
That said, the most common cause of crashes and lockups that I have experienced is having images attached to the drawing. Turning them off or unloading them will usually allow me to proceed past the lockup point to do what I need to do.
Also, Is it absolutely necessary to bind your xrefs? Perhaps you can do what you need to do without binding them.
Hi @tony.gannon,
Can you attach a sample set of files for me to try this on. I have never experienced this and I have used Bind for a long time. I would like to see if I can duplicate the issue.
Are all the files in the same location? Are they on a network? Do you have images or PDF attachments?
Yes, lots of questions. 🙂
Hi @tony.gannon,
I haven't seen an additional post on this issue. Did you get it resolved?
AUDIT/RECOVER source files that are xref'd.
Make sure all XREF's in source files are OVERLAYed or DETACHed.
PURGE source files and save.
Try binding XREF's in target file again, one at a time until complete or a problem file is discovered.
Also be aware that bunding large files to large files can take quite some time, give it a chance.
Try binding xref's via DWGCONVERT, eTRANSMIT, DWGTRUEVIEW (convert)
