Proxy Fonts

I'm running r14+A2ki on Win98+W2k. Why does autocad have to use proxy fonts
or substitute a custom font with a TTF when using Mtext vs. regular Text?

Because the Mtext editor will only display Truetype fonts, not SHX.

Hi David,

So does this mean that once I'm out of the Mtext Editor, AutoCAD should once
again be using the customized shx fonts for displaying and plotting?

Hi David,

Unfortunately, it's not working out that way. The first letter "O" on the
2nd. line of the 3rd party text font Helvbld.shx is displayed out of
position and plots the same way. If I type regular text using the same
font, the O is positioned correctly. When I save the fle as R14 and I open
this in r14, the letter O is displayed in the correct position. So what's
the difference in A2ki's Mtext object vs. r14's?

Paul

Boy that's a tough one. Maybe one of the Autodesk types is reading
this and can help.
