Converter for old ArtCAM art files to 2017

As most of you know old version ArtCAM art files are not able to open with 2017. Our customers has more than 1,000. old models to open so I think there must be a converter which can convert all art files to new format. It is not possible to send every old files to the ArtCAM Support team.

Does your customer have AC2015/R2 ?

An add on for the toolbox was created to batch calculate Art files to 2015 format which is readable by 2017

This is exactly what I need.

Is it only for 2015 R2 or may I use it with 2013, 2015 too.

Thanks for your comment.

This is a Toolbox add-in for ArtCAM 2015 R2 only, and you require ArtCAM Insignia/Pro/JewelSmith 2015 R2 in order to use it. You do not need to have any other version of ArtCAM installed on your computer other than ArtCAM 2015 R2 to convert a collection of ArtCAM Model files (*.art).

surely the tool from 2015 can be written in to 2017 and just convert files on opening if required.

for our company a batch convert isn't great because we don't know which files will or wont open until we try, so currently we do one at once when needed.

Agree with mmarchHRJ7T. We amend, and change many old files daily.

All old files should open in the newest version of the software, without having to put them through another process.

I'm happy to have converter. It is better to not open any of them. I'm getting positive feedbacks from the customers.

This is not working for 3DP Project files. Is it possible to add support for 3DP files?

Old ArtCAM Project files (*.3dp) files do not need to be converted in order to open them in Autodesk ArtCAM 2017. I do not have any issue with opening old ArtCAM Project files (*.3dp) in Autodesk ArtCAM 2017. Please refer to the screencast below:

If you have any old ArtCAM Project files (*.3dp) which fail to import into Autodesk ArtCAM 2017, please create and submit a case from your Autodesk Account to report this issue, and attach your ArtCAM Project files (*.3dp) when doing so.

we have projects that beg to differ.  the project will open but no models in the project will open.

I've reported this issue (models in old ArtCAM Project files show dongle error in 2017) to the Development team. I'll be sure to keep you updated regarding any feedback I receive from them.

There is no method for batch converting ArtCAM Project files (*.3dp). To convert an ArtCAM Project file (*.3dp), follow the steps provided here.
