Context menus cannot be customized in the Autodesk ArtCAM 2017 product range. The context menus in the Autodesk ArtCAM 2017 product range have been reduced significantly when compared against ArtCAM 2015 R2. Although the decision to streamline context menus was made by the Development team to reduce the amount of screen space they occupy, our workflow has been disrupted. If the Development team cannot reinstate the context menus as they were in ArtCAM 2015 R2, perhaps they can implement the ability to customize them in Autodesk ArtCAM 2017 instead. Show More

As most of you know old version ArtCAM art files are not able to open with 2017. Our customers has more than 1,000. old models to open so I think there must be a converter which can convert all art files to new format. It is not possible to send every old files to the ArtCAM Support team. Show More

When trying to manipulate a cookie cut it would be nice to be able to see the bitmap image below.   For some of our jobs we use similar reliefs that need stretching or tweaking to fit the new image, this is very frustrating when you can’t see the image through the cookie cut as you don't know where the cookie is in relation to the image, I find myself turning the cookie visibility on and off or pasting it and having to re cut it and so on. About 3 or 4 years ago I suggested this shortly after we got the angled plane tool, I find this idea a quick fix instead of using a 2 rail sweep or drawing a larger circle to do add or take away from a modeled area since we now are able to see what such an idea would do with the live tools. Having this tool would give the option of seeing what the deed would look like before being committed to the act.   This would speed up the modeling and give a cleaner look without doing multiple zero rests and deleting layers just to accomplish a simple convex or a concaved area.   Right now this is how I accomplish what I want,  After making new layers doing either the sweep or larger circles using the shape editor getting the shape I am after, zeroing out everything else, adding to the area (joining the layers) then deleting the layers I used, time consuming and irritating, esp. if said work doesn't do what I want.       mike Show More

Group of vector layers like is it in relief. I attach the screenshot which present this exsiting functionallity in relief. It was be great if the same will available in vectors ( please see in attached file). Now when we have many vectors layer is difficult to manage them.   Other problem is when we have many vector layer and try to move vector for first few vector layer is impossible ( please see in attached file). 2017.238 SP3   I would like to request that the active layer text on the Project Tree  (be it vector, bmp, reliefs etc) change color when made active.   currently if you select a Relief layer, the grey bar highlights the layer, if you go to a Vector layer and select, the grey highlight bar goes with it, then the current relief layer become hard to distinguish in the list of other white text layer names.   Even though the white text is a little brighter in color for the active layer its still blends in with the other layer names.   How about the active layer text changing to yellow like the light bulb? Functions that have unavailable options are currently shows as a "fuzzy" version of the text. I find this hard on the eyes and would rather see a clearer difference in the options that currently can't be used.   For example in the Shape Editor the Height and Corner Angle options are fuzzy/unavailable until Round/Square is selected with the appropriate height limit. The words Height and Corner Angle is hard to read and not clear enough that the option is not available.   Maybe the text could be grey instead of white and fuzzy.   Does anyone else have other suggestions on how to display the unavailable options?       Thanks, Jen   Show More

An option to suppress or skip all errors would be very useful when using the file converter. Currently when the converter comes to a problem file, corrupt or other, the converter stops until you click ok on the message window. For customers with large amounts of older files, this stall is very costly and forces them to manually remove this file to proceed with conversions.    A check box at the beginning to suppress all messages would be ideal, at the end a summary of files skipped would be even better! In ArtCAM 2013 there were alot more tools available while the shape editor was active.   Since 2015 you can't do anything while the shape editor is active.  we need to be able to link colours, ATLEAST, while the editor is open, all of the staff here are finding this very frustrating.   This was requested way back in the 2015 testing phase. Welding vectors in ArtCAM, as you know deletes all the vectors that are inside another vector.   the ability to Weld with out the happening would be nice, Illustrator has this kind of functionality, it is called unite. While using 2 rail sweep, you sometimes want to add more cross-sections and edit them to fit specific areas as you're creating the sweep. You can add the existing cross-sections in multiple times, but it will be the same piece. I would like to be able to Ctrl copy the vector cross-section (since you can't actively draw while in the sweep function), so you can then add it in to the sweep and edit it on the fly. Show More

2018.1.0   With this update, removing the Help Contents from the program and making it internet access only is such a bad move. Its obvious that who ever made this decision has no idea how many end-users running Artcam on the shop floor do not have internet connection, not to mention a lot of businesses I travel to have limited internet access low sat or 4g connections.
