Autodesk ArtCAM 2017 Service Pack 3 is now available to download

Provided you've already installed the hotfix for ArtCAM 2017, the third service pack for the Autodesk ArtCAM 2017 product range (Free, Standard & Premium) is now available to download through the Autodesk Desktop App:

AutodeskDesktopApp-ArtCAM2017-Update3.png

You can also download the third service pack for ArtCAM 2017 from the Product Updates area of your Autodesk Account.

Details of the fixes and enhancements included in the third service pack for ArtCAM 2017 are listed here.

If you haven't already installed the first or second service pack for ArtCAM 2017, then you do not need to install them prior to installing the third service pack.

Kind regards,

Hi @donald.ross,

Many thanks for providing your screenshot of the ArtCAM 2017 Properties dialog.

Please complete these steps:

  1. In the ArtCAM 2017 Properties dialog, select the Users (Lenovo-PC\Users) item (fifth from top) in the Group or user names list.
  2. Click Edit. The Permissions for ArtCAM 2017 dialog is displayed.
  3. In the Permissions for ArtCAM 2017 dialog, select the Users item in the Group or user names list.
  4. In the Permissions window, select the Allow check box beside Full control.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Click OK. The Permissions for ArtCAM 2017 dialog is closed.
  7. Click OK. The ArtCAM 2017 Properties dialog is closed.

Afterwards, check again that the ArtCAMPro.exe file's associated Read only check box is de-selected, and ensure it remains that way. If it does, please proceed to install the fourth service pack for the Autodesk ArtCAM 2017 product range.

Thanks in advance for your time and cooperation.

Kind regards,

Unfortunately, it still goes back to being checked when closed and reopened.  😞

The necessary permissions might not have been successfully applied then. Please complete the following steps:

  1. Browse to C:\Program Files\Autodesk on your computer.
  2. Right-click the ArtCAM 2017 folder, then select the Properties context menu option. The ArtCAM 2017 Properties dialog is displayed.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. Select the Users (Lenovo-PC\Users) item (fifth from top) in the Group or user names list.
  5. Take a screenshot of the dialog, and then attach it when replying to this post.

Please also try the following steps:

  1. Browse to C:\Program Files\Autodesk\ArtCAM 2017 on your computer.
  2. Right-click the Exec folder, then select the Properties context menu option. The Exec Properties dialog is displayed.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. In the Exec Properties dialog, select the Users (Lenovo-PC\Users) item (fifth from top) in the Group or user names list.
  5. Click Edit. The Permissions for Exec dialog is displayed.
  6. In the Permissions for Exec dialog, select the Users item in the Group or user names list.
  7. In the Permissions window, select the Allow check box beside Full control.
  8. Click Apply.
  9. Click OK. The Permissions for Exec dialog is closed.
  10. Click OK. The Exec Properties dialog is closed.

Afterwards, check again that the ArtCAMPro.exe file's associated Read only check box is de-selected, and ensure it remains that way. If it does, please proceed to install the fourth service pack for the Autodesk ArtCAM 2017 product range.

Unfortunately, I'm leaving the office for the day now. In preparation for your support call later today, I've ensured that the Customer Service Technical Specialist currently assigned to your case (12571944) has been notified of the progress in this ArtCAM Forum topic.

Thanks in advance for your time and cooperation.

Here is the screenshot.   Unfortunately, after doing all of this, the READ ONLY still keeps re-checking itself.   Matt from Customer Service recommended the nuclear option - a complete uninstall and reinstall which I will try on Saturday since I have to get some work done.  If you come up with any other ideas in the meantime, let me know.  Thanks for all of your help on this.Printscreen6.png

Your screenshot shows the user permissions for the ArtCAM 2017 folder within C:\Program Files\Autodesk. Please provide the same for the Exec folder within C:\Program Files\Autodesk\ArtCAM 2017; I previously requested that you modify the permissions for the Exec folder too.

Please confirm your user account type using these steps:

  1. Click Start, and type User Accounts in the Search box.
  2. Click User Accounts from the list of results. The User Accounts window is displayed with your user account type listed beside your user account picture.

In addition, please confirm whether you right-clicked the downloaded Autodesk_ArtCAM_Premium_2017_Multilingual_Win_64bit_Setup.exe file and selected the Run as administrator context menu option when you first installed the initial Autodesk ArtCAM Premium 2017 release on your computer.

Thanks in advance for your time and cooperation.

Good morning Dillon,

Below are the screenshots you requested.  As to whether I ran the original install as Administrator I really don't remember. That was back in November.

Your supplied screenshots of your user account and permissions indicate that you should be able to install the service pack, yet Windows is preventing you from doing so. However, if you did not install the initial Autodesk ArtCAM 2017 release (build 110) by right-clicking the Autodesk_ArtCAM_Premium_2017_Multilingual_Win_64bit_Setup.exe file and selecting the Run as administrator context menu option, this could very well explain the issues you've encountered from the point of trying to install the third service pack release; I always instruct people to install ArtCAM software using this method.

Please complete the following steps:

  1. Uninstall Autodesk ArtCAM 2017 from your computer. You can find information on how to uninstall applications on a Windows 8.1 computer here. If you have any issues with uninstalling the sofware, please refer to this article in the Autodesk Knowledge Network.
  2. Download the ArtCAM - Premium installer from the All Products and Services area of your Autodesk Account to your computer. The downloaded file is named Autodesk_ArtCAM_Premium_2017_R1_Multilingual_Win_64bit_Setup.exe and is 749 MB (785,506,304 bytes) in size on disk.
  3. Right-click the Autodesk_ArtCAM_Premium_2017_R1_Multilingual_Win_64bit_Setup.exe file, then select the Run as administrator context menu option; complete the installation process.
  4. Download the Autodesk ArtCAM 2017 Service Pack 4 installer from the Product Updates area of your Autodesk Account to your computer. The downloaded file is named ArtCAM_2017_SP4.exe and is 169 MB (177,463,296 bytes) in size on disk.
  5. Right-click the ArtCAM_2017_SP4.exe file, then select the Run as administrator context menu option; complete the installation process.
  6. Confirm that you're working in Autodesk ArtCAM Premium 2017 Service Pack 4 (build 268) by starting the software and selecting the Help > About Autodesk ArtCAM menu option.

Thanks in advance for your time and cooperation.

Hi Dillon,

I tried to uninstall today and it won't let me!   It's a monster that has taken over my computer.  Please see the below screen shots and I would appreciate any input you can give me.

This is another permissions issue. Have you tried uninstalling Autodesk ArtCAM Premium 2017 from C:\Program Files\Autodesk\ArtCAM 2017, by right-clicking the uninst.exe and selecting the Run as administrator context menu option? If you haven't, please do so and let me know your results.

Thanks in advance for your time and cooperation.

Hi Dillon,

There doesn't seem to be an uninstall.exe file anywhere that I can see.

Your screenshot shows that you're browsing within the Exec folder; you need to browse within the ArtCAM 2017 folder, which is up one level in Explorer.

Yeah, I've pretty much searched all over.   Matt at Autodesk suggested the Microsoft Fix It tool but I can't even find ArtCAM2017 in that.

It would seem as though the uninst.exe file is either missing or hidden; this again could be a permissions issue with your Windows user account. Do you have hidden files and folders displayed in Explorer? If not, you might find this article useful.

Thanks in advance for your time and cooperation.

Hello Dillon,

Matt from Autodesk was able to help me.   In short, he removed some corrupted registry keys and deleted the program.  The program must have been corrupt from the original install.   We have re-installed and done all 4 service packs successfully and the uninstall.exe now shows up where it is supposed to be.

Thanks for all of your help.  This was a strange one for sure.   I'm actually headed your way tomorrow evening to visit my son and his family in Cambridge for a couple of weeks.  I'll buy you a pint or two if you're in the neighborhood.

Cheers.

I'm very pleased to hear that Matt has been able to resolve your issue.

Enjoy your trip! Many thanks for the kind offer, but it's all part of your Autodesk Support entitlement.

How are you trying to download the service pack? From your Autodesk Account's Product Updates page, or through the Autodesk Desktop App? Please confirm.

Thanks in advance for your time and cooperation.
