I'm currently getting into rendering .My sir told me there are different types of of shaders we can use within maya through arnold but i couldnt get a proper explnation of what a shader means or do in simple wordds both from the internet and my professor .Can someone tell me what a SHADER means and what is the term rendered using arnold .Thank you.

A shader is the underlying tech to recreate real world materials. One example is the standard surface shader. An other one would be a hair shader.

There are different methods but the most used is raytracing.
