Hello Arnold Community.
I've actually used histograms in the past and the present, to try and match photo references, but outside of trial and error, I never quite understood how to read them.
For example, here are 3 scenes that take place in the same interior setting, but have widely different graphs.
What does it mean when you have the above image where the graph is evenly spread out, but in the middle one you can see there are huge spikes, and then in the last image, you can see the histogram shifts towards the left? Does it describe how bright a lightsource is, or the strength of shadows/contrast, or just overall exposure in a scene etc?
Edit: To make it Arnold related, here is a test scene I did a few months ago. I understand how to tweak and make post processing changes but I don't know why I'm doing it in relation to the graphs.
You have some really nice articles on this website that helps you understand how to use the Histogram.
