To add, for example, metalness input to an aiStandardSurface node, I right-click on the top of the node to show the option menu and select Edit Custom Attribute List, then click on metalness to add it, but then how do I make it retain this change to the node?
Whatever I do it just reverts to the default node and the parameter I added does not show. What is the last step to make it retain the parameter I add?
If I click "preview" then and turn off the editing of the custom inputs, it stays
once you do that to add metalness or any others parameters, go to C:\Users\XXX\Documents\maya\2018\prefs\viewTemplates and copy "NEaiStandardSurfaceTemplate.xml" to C:\solidangle\mtoadeploy\2018\scripts\mtoa\ui\templates, override the original one.
or just put the .xml file inside a folder like "mtoaTemplate", and add a variable to your OS like
MAYA_CUSTOM_TAMPLATE_PATH =C:\mtoaTemplate
Do you have to do this every time you make a change by adding a new input?
each time you change or expose another parameter you have to save that .xml template
