What I am trying to accomplish- USE AO pass as a mask for a mix shader to control the edge of surface contact.
Limitation I have encountered- I cannot get the spread to move beyond 0-1 and my scene is in meters and massive.
I now think I might need to export all the parts and make a tiny scene and bake the map- but another corner I am in is most of the scene is using aiStandIns for geo.
I have tried and failed at- expression in the spread slot to multiply the range, remap Value node (couldn't figure out a way to connect this)
Does anyone know of a way to get the spread to be greater than 1 on the aiAmbientOcclusion shader?
Also I know I am doing it wrong but my whole MAYA experience has been one of hacks ![]()
plus I think this would be a great hack for dirt grime and intersection effects in shading networks
In the image attached - thing is 3000cm from top to bottom- and I was trying to get the roads occlusion to drive the edge of shader mix from gravel to grass- GROK?
Spread will never be more than 1, it's clamped to that max in the code.
Angular spread around the normal vector N, in the range [0,1], where 1 maps to 90 degrees (the full hemisphere). 1.0 is the most common value. Other values may produce results that are not useful.
