Unable to dynamically load: The file cannot be accessed by the system.

I have been trying to get Arnold to work on my computer for a while now. Since downloading the software, I have been getting "Warning: Arnold renderer not loaded" every time. I am a student and initially I didn't understand what that meant. I have tried many things, up to and including a clean uninstall and reinstallation of Maya. I can't find anything about "The file cannot be accessed by the system" in relation to Maya.

Here are the recurring errors in full:

Whenever I go into the plug-in manager, it gives me an error when I try to click on "loaded".

"The file cannot be accessed by the system" is not a Maya-specific problem.

I don't remember seeing this before (in tens of thousands of support cases).

Judging by the Google hits, it's some kind of system/permissions/account problem. Hopefully not file system corruption. I looked over about 10 of the Google results, and to start, I would:

  • Reinstall MtoA (not Maya, just Mtoa). Maybe try installing it outside of the Program Files folder.
  • Try with an admin Windows account, if your account is just a User account.
  • Run chkdsk

Those are fairly standard and safe things to do.

thank you, this helped me figure out at least somewhat of a solution. It’s likely a problem with my file organization or admin access. I changed to the Administrator account like you suggested which allowed it to work just fine (even though my user account says it has admin access which is odd, not sure what the difference is). It’s a bit of a hassle but it works.
