If I want to scatter many trees (about 100), what would be more efficient between using opacity maps for the leaves or avoiding it by cutting out the silhouette of the leaves with polycuts?
Geo should render quicker or you could try using the ray_switch shader for quicker opacity renders. Either way, please post your results!

ok, from what I see on that article, I should probably just not use opacity. And, sorry but I can't show images from my company!
