Render to texture speed

I've got to bake out quite a few textures and noticed that the baking takes pretty long for the task, sometimes upwards of an hour for 8k maps with a flat shader.

3 AA samples, all other sampling and ray depth settings at 0.

Is there any other way to optimise this? Seems like it takes too long considering how quick this stuff renders the usual way.

^ Disabling subdivisions and displacements where I could helped quite a bit.

Ya. It will be good if arnold baking speed is improved.

I bump this thread because to me is very slow. A flat surface with 10 edges, 2048 res, 5AA samples. Now are 10 where the render started, Maya is freezing and the progression bar do anything progression. Is a known bug?

Thanks

What does the arnold log say for where the time is going? Even better, can you provide a profile json log? Details for how to generate one are here

Its just rendertime. I have the times now down to a view minutes. I lowered the diffuse bounces.
But the noise is still an issue.
