Problem with rendering glass in arnold for maya 2018

Hello guys this is my first post here.
Im having a major problem when trying to render glass in Arnold for maya. Im using the 2018 version.
The problem is, when i render the glass material, the glass that is horizontal to the background, i mean just straight infront of the background, renders fine. But the glass that are sideways on both sides are NOT becoming transparent, aka cant see the background through them. See the picture for a better understanding of what i mean.

They seem to cast shadows or reflections or whatever i dunno (even if i turn specular all the way down) and doesnt show the background image at all.
Can someone please help.
I just maxed the transmission and turned opaque off to create the glass shader. I experimented with turning off diffuse weight, turning diffuse to black, turning of specularity but nothing seems to work.
