Toon Shader & Contour Filter Type - Issues/Questions

Hi,

I haven't used the Arnold Toon shader very much, I see as part of the requirements one is required to switch to the "Contour" filter type.

I noticed that as soon as I switch then the render result appears transparent which seems incorrect to me, as I can't really work with the shader when it looks like this.

(This is just with a "Standard Surface" applied)

Contour Filter Type:

Box Filter Type:

Edit:

More questions, the docs say:

"To increase the edge_width_scale above 1, you will need to increase the contour_filter_width. However, this will increase render times."

1) How do I adjust this in Houdini, I don't see any way on the "Render Settings" node.
Out the box at a scale of 1, the edges are pencil thin.

Noticed this seems to appear on a "Render Var" but aren't available on the Arnold Render Settings HDA.

Sort of answered my own question, but this is another fix/adjustment needed on the HDA.

2) Where is the "UberNoise" OSL used in the docs that will work in Houdini?

The docs just have a dead link. (circled in red)

thanks,

Oh wow, not sure why that didn't cross my mind.

Was convinced it would just be pathed to the light at stage level. 😅

It's working now!

Thanks so much! 👍
